Measles outbreak 2025 – in our community. There have been confirmed close contacts of measles in Christchurch. The Ministry of Health has released a list of locations of interest where people may have been exposed. You can view the locations, dates, and times here:  https://info.health.nz/health-topics/conditions-treatments/infectious-diseases/measles/locations-of-interest. If you are fully vaccinated, especially with two MMR doses, your risk of measles is very low.  If you visited any of the listed locations, please use the link to follow the instructions. What you need to do depends on whether you are a close or casual contact. The Ministry of Health will inform you if any action is required.  If you are not vaccinated or unsure of your vaccination status, please review the link carefully and follow the instructions.  If you develop symptoms like fever, rash, cough, or red eyes, call ahead before going to a clinic.  If you need help checking your immunisation record or have questions, please contact us.

Repeat prescriptions and Test results

Piki Te Ora Health Centre uses MyIndici. An online system that allows you to log in, order repeat prescriptions, view your test results and account balance, without entering the centre.

12-Month Prescription Changes – Coming 1 February 2026  – As announced by the government, from 1 February 2026, clinicians will be able to issue prescriptions for up to 12 months, where it is safe and clinically appropriate for certain medications only.

At Piki Te Ora Health Centre, our clinicians will be reviewing all requests on a case-by-case basis. It is important to note that 12-month prescriptions will be suitable only for a small number of patients, generally those who are on one stable long-term medication that does not require frequent monitoring.

For patients who take multiple medications, or medications that require regular review, blood tests, or dose adjustments, it is unlikely that a full 12-month prescription will be appropriate. In these situations, shorter intervals—such as three or six months—will continue to be safer and more consistent with best-practice care.  While the pharmacy will still dispense your medicines every three months, the decision about the length of your prescription will depend on your individual health needs, monitoring requirements, and clinician assessment.  This change does not come into effect until February 2026, so please continue with the usual prescription process until then.
